Overview

HumanCheck is a local-first iPhone app designed to work without accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, cloud synchronization, or a backend service. The short version: your relationships stay on your iPhone.

Data collection

HumanCheck does not collect or transmit personal data. The app does not contact a HumanCheck server, and it includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Information stored on your device

HumanCheck stores the names you assign to paired people and non-secret relationship metadata in local app storage. Relationship keys are stored in the iPhone Keychain using device-bound protection.

Shared Secrets are used transiently to derive relationship material and are not retained after pairing. Rotating HumanCodes are generated locally when needed and are not stored as verification history.

Biometric authentication

If you enable app protection, HumanCheck asks iOS to authenticate you with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Authentication is handled by iOS. HumanCheck does not receive or store biometric data.

Network access and third-party services

HumanCheck's pairing and HumanCode features work offline. The app does not use a HumanCheck backend, cloud synchronization service, analytics provider, advertising service, or third-party account system.

Data sharing and tracking

HumanCheck does not sell or share personal data and does not use personal data for tracking. It does not use advertising identifiers or track activity across other companies' apps or websites.

Your controls and deletion

You can remove a paired Human inside the app. This deletes that relationship's local metadata and Keychain relationship key from your iPhone. HumanCheck has no server-side account or data-deletion request process because it does not receive or store your data on a server.

Device replacement and recovery

HumanCheck 1.0 does not provide cloud synchronization or recovery. Relationship keys use device-bound Keychain protection and do not migrate to a new device. If your iPhone is lost, erased, or replaced, you must pair again.

Children's privacy

HumanCheck is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If HumanCheck's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before the changed version is released. The effective date above identifies the latest revision.
