Before you begin

Eira can chat when Apple’s on-device Foundation Model is available.

Troubleshooting

Common fixes

Work through these steps if Eira says its on-device model is unavailable.

    Check your system version

    Open Settings > General > Software Update and confirm your iPhone is running iOS 26 or later.

    Enable Apple Intelligence

    Open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, then turn on Apple Intelligence. Setting names can vary by system version.

    Allow the model to finish downloading

    Connect to Wi-Fi and power if Apple Intelligence is still preparing its on-device model.

    Confirm language and region support

    Your device language, Siri language, and region must be supported by Apple Intelligence.

  5. 5
    Reopen Eira

    After changing settings, quit and reopen Eira so it can check model availability again.

Delete conversations

Eira keeps conversation history in local app storage on your iPhone.

Delete one conversation

Open the chat menu and choose Delete Chat, then confirm.

Delete all conversations

Open the Settings tab, choose Delete All Conversations, then confirm.

Frequently asked.

Does Eira require an account?

No. Eira’s core chat experience does not require registration, sign-in, or a subscription.

Does Eira require internet access?

Core chat works without a network connection after Apple Intelligence is enabled and its model is available. Initial setup and model downloads may require internet access.

Does Eira send conversations to a server?

No. Core AI conversations are processed by Apple’s on-device model and stored locally by Eira.

Why does Eira say Apple Intelligence is unavailable?

Your iPhone may be incompatible, Apple Intelligence may be disabled or still downloading, or your current language and region may not be supported.

Can I use Eira on iPad or Mac?

Not currently. Eira’s documented release target is iPhone. iPad and Mac support are planned as possible future work.

Can I recover a deleted conversation?

Eira does not include a restore feature for deleted conversations. Review the confirmation prompt before deleting.
